Spicy Aloo Samosa Recipe/ Crispy Samosa Recipe

Samosas are a delicious and savory Indian snack that is popular worldwide. Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • ½ teaspoon carom seeds
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • ½ teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 potato, peeled and chopped into small pieces
  • ½ cup green peas
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  • To make the dough for the pastry, mix the flour, oil, salt, carom seeds, and ½ cup water in a large mixing bowl until a smooth dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes and set it aside to rest for 20 minutes.
  • To make the filling, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the cumin, coriander seeds, garam masala, turmeric powder, and red chili powder to the pan and stir for a few seconds.
  • Add the grated ginger and minced garlic to the pan and sauté for a minute.
  • Add the chopped onion to the pan and cook for a few minutes until it becomes translucent.
  • Add the chopped potato and green peas to the pan and mix well. Add salt to taste and cook for 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are cooked through.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Take the dough and divide it into small balls.
  • Roll out each ball into a thin circle, then cut it in half with a sharp knife.
  • Take one half of the circle and form it into a cone shape, sealing the edges with water.
  • Fill the cone with the vegetable filling, leaving a small gap at the top.
  • Seal the top of the cone with water and press down to ensure it is secure.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the samosas and fry until they are golden brown on both sides.
  • Transfer the samosas to a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes.
  • Serve the samosas hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
