Ingredients:
- 1 cup urad dal (lentil flour)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups yogurt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp chaat masala
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 cup tamarind chutney
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
- Chopped mint leaves for garnishing
Instructions:
- Soak the urad dal in water for 3-4 hours or overnight. Drain the water and grind it to a fine paste.
- Add salt, cumin seeds, red chili powder, coriander powder, and baking soda to the lentil paste. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a pan. Take a small portion of the lentil paste and drop it into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown.
- Take out the fried lentil balls and put them in a bowl of water for 10-15 minutes.
- In the meantime, mix yoghurt, sugar, salt, cumin powder, red chili powder, chaat masala, and garam masala in a bowl.
- Take out the soaked lentil balls from the water and gently press them between your palms to remove excess water.
- Dip the lentil balls in the yoghurt mixture and let them soak for 2-3 minutes.
- Take out the lentil balls and place them on a serving dish.
- Pour tamarind chutney on top of the lentil balls.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves.
